Do You Need a Visa for Vietnam?
Planning a trip to Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, or anywhere else in Vietnam?
One of the first things you'll need to figure out is your visa. We know... not the most exciting part of planning a trip. But spending five minutes reading this article now could save you time, money, and a lot of unnecessary stress later.
The good news? For many travelers, entering Vietnam is much easier than they expect. Your visa requirements simply depend on your nationality and how long you plan to stay.

What Are Your Visa Options?
Visa-Free Entry
Coming to Vietnam for a holiday, sightseeing, or simply to relax?
If you're a Russian citizen, you can currently stay in Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days.
If you're traveling with another passport, check the table above to see the rules that apply to you.
eVisa
Vietnam offers two types of electronic visas:
- Single Entry — one entry into Vietnam.
- Multiple Entry — multiple entries during the visa's validity.
Planning to stay longer?
Apply for your eVisa before your trip. Processing takes time, so don't leave it until the last minute.
Business Visa
If you're planning to work, run a business, or stay in Vietnam long-term, you'll most likely need a business visa.
The application process differs from a tourist visit, so make sure to research this option separately.
Which Visa Is Right for You?
It's actually pretty simple.
Decide how long you want to stay in Vietnam, then check the latest official requirements for your nationality.

▼ Mistakes We've Seen... Including One of Mine 😅
💚 FROGI Story
When my first 45 days in Vietnam were almost over, I decided to do everything "the modern way."
I opened ChatGPT.
It helped me complete my eVisa application.
Feeling pretty confident, I flew to Bangkok to explore the city while waiting for my visa approval.
Four days later, I received an email.
❌ Application Denied
The reason?
I had submitted my application while I was still in Vietnam.
Turns out, I was supposed to apply after leaving the country.
ChatGPT politely apologized afterwards...
Unfortunately, Vietnamese immigration wasn't quite as forgiving. 😂
Since then, I always double-check visa requirements on official government websites.
And I highly recommend you do the same.
