Why Bali?

Honestly, Bali was never the place I felt I needed to visit as soon as possible.

Quite the opposite. I always felt I wasn't ready for it. I'd heard too many stories about this island.

Some people said Bali completely changes people. Others believed it's where the deepest personal transformations happen. Some claimed the island tests your strength. Others seriously warned that relationships often fall apart here.

I don't know how much of that is true.

But I do know one thing.

After spending two years in Thailand, I understand that these kinds of transformations really do happen. At that stage of my life, I simply didn't feel ready for another test, but I also believed that everything has its own time—and when that moment came, I would know.

In June, my husband suggested spending this season in Bali. After a few days of thinking, I unexpectedly felt ready. Ready to discover a new country. And a new island.

I don't know whether this island will change me. I don't know what our relationship will look like after a few months of living here. The only thing I had was a sense of calm and the feeling that whatever happened next would happen for the best.

Honestly, I thought this would be one of our easiest moves. We had already visited dozens of countries, taken countless flights, and always lived by one simple phrase:

"We'll figure it out when we get there."

Spoiler.

We didn't.

It turned out that buying plane tickets, getting a visa, and booking accommodation was only the beginning.

The plane landed, and suddenly everything became real.

Or rather, dozens of questions appeared immediately.

And almost none of them had answers.

That was the moment I realized how difficult it is for someone arriving in a new country for the very first time.

When you don't even know what options exist for solving the simplest everyday problems, those problems quickly drain your energy.

That's how this new format of city media was born.

I don't want to simply tell you about Bali. I want to experience it together with you. To test everything people say about the island. To make mistakes. To change my mind. To find answers. And to honestly document everything that happens along the way.

Maybe these pages will help someone feel more confident before visiting Bali for the first time. Maybe they'll inspire someone to move here. Or maybe they'll simply remind someone that there's only one way to truly know a country.

To live it yourself.
