Preface • Chapter 1
First Morning in Bali
The morning after we arrived, we decided not to rush anywhere.
Instead of immediately setting off to explore the island, we spent the day doing something much simpler—getting to know the neighborhood where we were staying. We saved a few cafés for breakfast and dinner, found the nearest grocery stores, ATMs, and everything else we might need for everyday life.
At the same time, we started making a list of places we definitely wanted to visit in Bali. Some were just around the corner, while others were deep in the heart of the island or even on neighboring islands. We wanted to understand how Bali was laid out and what was truly worth seeing while we were here.
Our very first stop was Bukit. That's where our journey through Bali really began.
We intentionally rented a villa for just six days. We didn't want to choose an area based on someone else's advice or beautiful photos on the internet. We wanted to experience different parts of the island ourselves before deciding where we'd truly like to stay.
So after Bukit, we headed to Ubud, then Seseh, and other areas to experience the differences between them and find the place that would eventually feel like home.
Let's start with Bukit.
I'll gradually collect everything I discover there into separate notes: favorite cafés, shops, routes, and beaches.
