Tokara Restaurant
A restaurant where the family story is hidden in the estate’s very name.

Tokara has a surprisingly personal name. It is built from the names of the founders’ children, Thomas and Kara.
That family connection also helps explain the restaurant.
It opened in 2001 and became one of the notable examples of a period when Cape Winelands restaurants began to form a real part of an estate’s identity rather than simply serving food after a wine tasting.
Today the kitchen is led by Carolize Coetzee. The menu connects produce from the estate garden, Tokara olive oil, its own wines, and South African flavours.
So the attraction is not only the panorama over Helshoogte Pass. Much of the meal leads back to the estate itself: what it grows, what it produces, and what eventually reaches the glass.
In short: 👨👩👧👦 Named after Thomas and Kara · 🕰️ Restaurant since 2001 · 🌿 Estate garden · 🫒 Tokara olive oil · 🍷 Estate wines · ⛰️ Helshoogte Pass
