Babel Restaurant
A former cowshed where the menu starts with whatever is ready in the garden.

Babel occupies a former cowshed at Babylonstoren.
During the conversion, the original Cape Dutch shell was kept, while one of the gables was replaced with glass. The result opens the old farm building directly towards the garden that shapes much of the restaurant’s identity.
Here, farm-to-fork is quite literal. Vegetables, herbs, and fruit grown on the estate influence not only what appears on the plate, but also the season, colour, and composition of the dishes.
So Babel makes more sense as part of the wider Babylonstoren system than as a standalone restaurant attached to a beautiful wine estate. The garden grows, the kitchen responds, and the distance between the two stays very small.
In short: 🐄 Former cowshed · 🌿 Garden-grown produce · 🎨 Colour and season shape the dishes · 🏛️ Cape Dutch architecture · 🪟 Glass gable facing the garden · 🍽️ Farm-to-fork
