Canggu, Padang Linjong

A Danish breakfast spot in Bali that started not with a business plan, but with a move, a baby on the way, and the couple’s entire savings…

cøpenhagen

Behind cøpenhagen CAFE are Nadia and Jeppe, a Danish couple who moved to Bali in 2016 with the idea of creating a place where people would come together for more than just food.

Their lives before that didn’t look much like a classic restaurant story. Nadia worked as a nurse and had developed a passion for Scandinavian baking and fermentation, while Jeppe was building a career as a professional poker player. In February 2018, Nadia was seven months pregnant when they invested all their savings into the project and opened their first café in Canggu.

Maybe that is why the idea of an “everyday Nordic feast” feels so natural here. Breakfast is not served as one fixed set. Instead, you build your own Nordic Feast from smaller plates bread, eggs, pastries, fish, vegetables, and extras. There are also traditional open-faced smørrebrød sandwiches. The project later grew into several cafés and bakeries, but this Canggu location is where the whole story began.

In short: 🥐 Danish pastries · 🍳 Build-your-own Nordic Feast · 🥪 Smørrebrød · ☕ Coffee · 🇩🇰 Scandinavian approach · 👨‍👩‍👧 A family story
