A warehouse café named after the pyjamas a mother once made for her daughters.
Pajamas and Jam opened in 2011 as a family project by sisters Melissa and Natasha de Villiers and their mother, Sandra.
And the name is not a branding story invented later.
Sandra once made pyjamas for her daughters as gifts and called the small home line Pajamas & Jam. The name eventually found a second life as the café.
The location is just as unexpected. Instead of opening in a polished tourist district, the family chose an industrial space in Gants Plaza. Over time, the large warehouse filled with vintage furniture, crockery, flowers, homeware, and the bakery’s own pastries.
It can look almost theatrical at first, but underneath all of that decoration is a working family kitchen and bakery.
That is what gives Pajamas and Jam its character. The place does not hide its eccentricity. It builds it from family memories, food, and the scale of an old industrial building.
