Furny's Fine Wines & Taste Room

Furny's Fine Wines & Taste Room does not grow its own grapes or pretend to be a wine estate.

It is a family-run wine shop, bar and deli in Noordhoek, bringing together bottles from producers across South Africa.

There are hundreds of labels on the shelves and dozens of wines available by the glass. So the appeal is almost the opposite of visiting one estate: you can compare regions, grapes and styles without driving between several wineries in one day.

The seating beneath the milkwood trees keeps the whole experience relaxed. You can order a few glasses, ask questions and build your own picture of South African wine.

That is really what Furny's does well. It does not make the wine. It curates it.
